A Virtual Show-and-Tell !!

This amazing Laelia purpurata was grown by our own Jerry and Anita Spencer!  It's humongous!  In 2007, it was awarded both an AM and CCE by the American Orchid Society.  Congratulations!

This Dendrochilum smithianum species plant was bloomed in February, 2008 by Gil Ho.  This plant was originally from the monthly plant raffle table from 2007 provided by Andy's Orchids.  It is growing well in a moderately humid greenhouse in coastal San Diego (Carlsbad) with moderate light and weekly watering and feeding.  In Gil's care, it seems to be relatively cold-tolerant to the 40 degree night-time temperatures locally.  It has 10 inflorescences of typically small yellowish flowers.  Nice species!
